A company that operates campgrounds in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, has launched what it says is the first initiative in Japan to refund up to the full accommodation fee if it rains.

One of the biggest concerns in outdoor leisure is “the weather on the day.” Last month, PICA, a company that operates campgrounds in Fujiyoshida City, began a service that is the first of its kind among campgrounds nationwide.

Masaki Hosoda of PICA’s marketing planning team said, “If it rains, up to 100% of the accommodation fee will be refunded.” The service applies to four campgrounds operated by PICA in Fujiyoshida City, Fujikawaguchiko Town, and Susono City in Shizuoka Prefecture.
