An American playwright and actor has been arrested in Okinawa on suspicion of attempting to smuggle drugs concealed in a bag.
Jeremy O. Harris, a 36-year-old American playwright and actor, was arrested last month at Naha Airport on suspicion of violating the Narcotics and Psychotropics Control Act.

According to the Okinawa District Customs, customs officials discovered that Harris had attempted to smuggle 0.78 grams of crystals containing MDMA, a narcotic drug, by concealing them in a pouch inside a tote bag on the 16th of last month.

Harris had departed from London, traveled via Taiwan, and was visiting Okinawa for tourism purposes.
Police have not disclosed whether he has admitted to or denied the charges, citing potential interference with the investigation.
