シリーズ「ヒバクシャの声」今回は 第23回 小佐々八郎さんの証言を英語で配信します。
As part of the "World Project" commemorating 80 years since the atomic bombing—an initiative promoted by the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Survivors Council (Nagasaki-Hisaikyo)—NBC has been broadcasting the recorded testimonies of survivors in both Japanese and English since 2025.

In this installment of the "Voices of the Hibakusha" series (No. 23), we present the testimony of KOSASA Hachiro .

KOSASA Hachiro served as the advisor of Nihon Hidankyo and also as the chairperson of NABSC. He was exposed to radiation in the A-bomb at Mitsubishi Weapon Ohashi Factory(39 years). He injured his leg, while his wife and four children suffered exposure to radiation in Showamachi. The oldest son Akihiko (10 years) was killed by an A-bomb, and the second daughter Kuniko (2 years) suffered severe burns to her body.

After the war, KOSASA did everything he could for forming NABSC and Nihon Hidankyo in 1956, while working as a city councilor. As the chairperson of NABSC, he had taken the initiative in anti-nuclear movement for a long time.

KOSASA passed away at 88 in 1994. He kept doing his best to support hibakusha and eliminate nuclear weapons. His great accomplishment laid the foundation for the Peace Movement now.

Nagasaki Atomicbomb Survivors Council and Nagasaki Broadcasting Co.,Ltd.(NBC) has signed a contract.

As part of “Global Project - 80 years after Atomic Bomb Explosion” led by Nagasaki Atomicbomb Survivors Council, the voices of Hibakusha recorded by NBC will be broadcast through YouTube channel of Nagasaki Atomicbomb Survivors Council, “NBC NEWS DIG” (a news video streaming site) and such.
