The Impact on Schools and Local Traditions
As the new school semester begins, the influx of tourists is also affecting local educational institutions.
At Second Shimoyoshida Elementary School, located about one kilometer from the park, roughly half of the school ground has been converted into a temporary parking lot. "We have a lot of space, so I don't think it will interfere with educational activities," said Principal Sousi Kajihara. "I am concerned about the increase in traffic, but we hope to overcome this by providing guidance within the school." To ensure the safety of students during their commute, the city has rerouted tour groups to avoid taking the road in front of the school.
